Ah, I so love to see ignorant self-righteous Republican legislators get what they deserve from a woman who is mad as hell at her gender being treated like dirt, and she won't take it anymore.
The You Tube video of Sarah Slamen's cut-short testimony before a committee of the Texas legislature poised to ramrod through a horrendous bill that will prevent many thousands of women from getting necessary health care resonated with my activist soul.
The committee chair interrupted her testimony, apparently because the truths Slamen was speaking were too painful for those sensitive right-wing ears to hear. (Her Twitter handle is @VictorianPrude.)
Of course, those Texas legislators have no problem causing pain to women who want to get a perfectly legal abortion from a perfectly safe medical facility. They can dish it out, but don't want to listen to people tell them what the nasty consequences of their anti-women legislation will be.
Which includes the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the 55,000 strong organization that represents 90% of ob-gyn physicians in this country. Check out their "Open Letter to Texas Legislators: Stay Out of Our Exam Rooms."

This is how the open letter starts out:
All eyes are on Texas again this week as the fate of a far-reaching measure to restrict abortions and close many abortion facilities faces its last days of debate. Unlike almost any other issue, abortion generates strong feelings on all sides. This is true within our own organization, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and we respect that our 58,000 members have deeply held personal beliefs on this topic.
While we can agree to disagree about abortion on ideological grounds, we must draw a hard line against insidious legislation that threatens women's health like Texas HB2 (House Bill 2) and SB1 (Senate Bill 1). That's why we're speaking to the false and misleading underlying assumptions of this and other legislation like it: These bills are as much about interfering with the practice of medicine and the relationship a patient has with her physician as they are about restricting women's access to abortion. The fact is that these bills will not help protect the health of any woman in Texas. Instead, these bills will harm women's health in very clear ways.
The Republican bullshit about wanting small government and respecting individual freedom is really getting tiresome. These Texas legislators would be a lot happier if the United States was run by a Christian Taliban.
There's only one silver lining in the shameful display being put on by the Texas legislature. Like Slamen says in the video, their up-front outrageous attacks on women's health are turning off the very voters — young, female, minority — that the Republican Party needs to win elections.
Old white conservative men are dying off steadily.
Yet that's the only demographic group that is going to applaud back-to-the-coat-hanger era misogynistic anti-women legislation. The Republican Party has morphed into a hotbed of hatred, ignorance, and religious fundamentalism.
Good luck winning national elections on that platform, GOP.
