I don't know much about mushrooms. Especially wild ones. But I know beauty when I see it.
Last November my wife, Laurel, snapped these iPhone photos of mushrooms doing their thing after a tree fell on our rural south Salem property.
Most amazing mushroom display I've ever seen. (click image to enlarge)

Brian, I am no expert, but these look to me like what are commonly known as fried chicken mushrooms. They are edible. These look a little over the hill because their caps are upturned. They are best harvested young. I’d need a closer look to make a better identification. Here is a good website about them: http://www.wildmanstevebrill.com/Mushrooms.Folder/Fried%20Chicken%20Mushroom.html
On second thought I think they are more likely to be honey mushrooms. http://www.fcps.edu/islandcreekes/ecology/honey_mushroom.htm
If they have a ring on the upper stalk they are probably honeys. If they don’t, they might be fried chicken mushrooms.
